Gamescom: Crysis 3’s 16-Player Hunter Mode

Looking for a new way to do a little multiplayer with your friends (or anonymous online strangers)? CryTek may have just the solution for you. Take a gander at Crysis’s 3’s all-new “Hunter” multiplayer mode, announced this morning at Gamescom:

Here’s the basic gist: You and up to 14 other players hop into the role of Cell troopers, stranded in the middle of New York and awaiting an evac. Two other players will become roided-out Nanosuit hunters. The goal? Kill the two hunters before they kill all 14 of you.

If you’ve ever watched Predator and wished somehow to reenact it in a video game, Hunter mode looks like it’s going to be the closest anyone’s come so far. Very, very cool, even without Carl Weathers and Arnold Schwarzenegger flexing their arms for no good reason.

As a reminder: Crysis 3 is due for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in February 2013.
