G4 Officially becomes Esquire in April |

A few months ago, NBCUniversal announced that G4, the tech and gaming heavy channel watched by what I assume is dozens of nerds, would be re-branding itself as the Esquire Network. According to the company, the new goal is creating an “upscale Bravo for men.” Which is weird, because I always thought Bravo was Bravo for men.

NBC says that the new channel’s programming will shift to something that more closely matches the Esquire brand: “The modern man, what being a man today is all about. Much of today’s programming targets men in a one-dimensional way,” focusing on “tattoos or pawn shops or storage lockers or axes or hillbillies.” Apparently this new channel will be aimed at smarter men who enjoy traveling, fancy whiskey and suits. Or whatever Esquire is about.
Anyway, the short version is this: If you have a show you really like on G4, you’d better start recording it now. As of April 22, G4 will cease to exist, and so will all of its current programming.
Any fans of G4 out there?

I really REALLY miss Tech TV when it was truly nerdy, G4 just tainted it with daytime garbage and other more broadly aimed junk.
