G4, the channel known mostly for its focus on gaming, is getting a significant makeover that will be put into action early next year.

What exactly does G4’s significant makeover entail? Well, for one, it will be rebranded to the Esquire Channel. This is according to sources who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. The sources revealed that NBCUniversal has signed a deal with Hearst Corporation, the parent company of Esquire magazine. The move will turn G4 into a network aimed at the modern male.
The Esquire Channel is set to launch during the first half of next year, and it already has new programming in production. While the new channel will still carry some programming focused on gaming, its unclear how much of its schedule will be devoted to the subject. G4 has already announced that Attack of the Show and X-Play will be gone after 2012. As for the new programming, expect shows on cooking, travel, fashion, and more.
