Listed in: News Tags: final fantasy album, final fantasy anniversary, piano opera
One of the thing that videogames often do well is music, and Nobuo Uematsu is one of the names to credit. Square Enix are releasing a series of albums to celebrate Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary, and are kicking things off tomorrow (February 29th for those in varying time zones) with the first of a pair of albums entitled ‘Piano Opera’. The first one features piano workings based around Final Fantasy I,II and III, with the second covering, you guessed it, IV, V and VI.

It’s worth noting that the ‘Piano Collection’ albums have already covered IV, V and VI, so the first question you may be asking is ‘why should I get this?’
Good question, and the answer lies in the fact that the arrangements being taken care of by Hiroyuki Nakayama, who has a long time collaborative career with Uematsu (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon). Medley’s are present, which are always nice to hear and hopefully we can expect new tracks that weren’t in the Piano Collections. (The Piano Collections only cover a fraction of the soundtracks)
The second Piano Opera is due on May 16th, and is definitely something to look out for, as Final Fantasy VI’s Piano Collection had some stunning pieces in it.
Final Fantasy VI's Piano Collection
The first album is available for pre-order for 2,800 Yen, about $32 via CD Japan.
Piano Opera isn’t the only thing they have up their sleeve in regards to the 25th anniversary of the series, so what else do you want see?
