Epic announces Fortnite at VGA |

The game's trailer gives a little away in terms of gameplay and art style, but Fortnite may be another must-have title for 2012 from me. It's a bit like Minecraft in it's construction and night-survival elements, but while most of the comedy of MC was fan-generated, Epic has gone with a cell-shaded like design to really draw in an audience.
The trailer's ending and structure on found footage is a bit off, depending on the possible characters in the game. I mean, I foresee the game at the moment as a challenge based, third-person game, but I could easily be wrong on that one. It'd be great to have it almost like a DIY-Tower Defense game where you get dropped in Demon Souls style and have to figure out enemy weaknesses.
This could either be a new direction for Epic or an Epic Fail on their part. Most people are commenting online about the similarities to Minecraft, but I really think unless it's a first person perspective and made incredibly cheap, no one needs to worry. Notch responded on Twitter some time after the video went live and said that "Is Fortnight is inspired by Minecraft? I don't know. It would be pretty cool. :D The pre rendered trailer gives no info as usual, though. :/"
I love you Notch, also you could probably say anything for the rest of your career and people would just nod and go ahuh and never bat an eye.
