Enhanced Crysis coming to consoles

PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers can finally get to try Crytek's infamous shooter, as it heads to the digital route next month.

Yes folks, after months of rumors, the original shooter that redefine the benchmark on PC will finally make its way to consoles as Electronic Arts today announced that Crysis will be available for download on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. According to the press release sent out by the company, the digital release of the shooter will feature "a modified and enhanced version" of the single-player campaign from the original Crysis that have been remastered for console using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryEngine 3 with improved lighting, effects and other visual optimizations.

“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

The original Crysis will set you back US$ 19.99 or 1600 Microsoft Points when it arrives on PSN and Xbox Live this October. But it could have been even better if it will also have a retail version. Agree or disagree?

Agree would rather see it on disc, as my ps3 hard drive is finally filling up. Will actually have to install a new hard drive in my ps3 if this digital distribution for game purchases continues, then download every thing I purchased in the past again hopefully with out having to repurchase any thing.

You (PC) users should buy a console and shame yourselves for downloading the free torrent version of every game. That is why PC gaming will be forever dead! Not to include that every multyplayer pc game has hackbots and wall hacks and aimbots.... Screw PC fans... Buy a MAC for computer use and a console for gaming!

Never mind Pc for the price of a mid-range Mac you could buy a brand new car in some countries, or for the same price a decent gaming Pc and a big 3DTV.

Face it PC trolls.... PC is Dead and sure if you want to keep up than keep buying the next GPU every other Month! PC is for nerds. I get to play all of the pc games on my consoles plus gears of war 3 and killzone 3 and resistance 3 . What can you do ..... play the same pc version of the sucky games with glitches and patch updates every week! Crysis 2 sucked and Crysis 1 was boring ..... Wow I can see trees move and everything looks realistic/Cartoony but the game is boring as shit.

Glad to see a good game go to a console crowd. But without multiplayer the game is pretty much a big ripoff especially with no retail option. I guess they left the multiplayer option out, as consoles are too weak to have at least 12 - 24 players in a match on cryengine. I don't expect the re-release on PC since it doesn't come with the iconic 64 multiplayer like the original had.

PC gaming is not dead and it is not dying. It just going through some hard times right now. As a PC gamer you pretty much expect love, quality and care from the developers, like in the early days of PC gaming. Pirating is a PC gamers way of saying 'F*** YOU' to a developer for either releasing a shoddy console port (e.g. GTA4, Sonic all-star racing), no demo or for a too expensive game that is not worth its weight in its retail price (e.g. COD, BRINK).

In terms of PC hardware im gaming with a $1500 laptop I got two years ago, It still plays the latest games on the highest settings (without DX11) on a 1920x1080 NATIVE Resolution (connected on my or friends TV's) with at least 2 or 4 times AA. It built better and faster and sexier (in originality) compared to a console or MACBOOK PRO, it also dual boots OSX LION, (Google hackintosh or go to osx86.org)

I get most of my games off STEAM or from imports where I get a boxed copy. I save a huge amount of money on games (from 20-90% off)

In the end, PC gaming is not dying, it's just there are console and MAC people making us look bad. Because off them most developers don't add much quality and love into their games and charge high prices for them. At least we have developers like Dice, THQ, Notch- Minecraft, Valve and indie developers who love us and charge barely anything for great games.

THQ? seriously lmfao. you've never played saints row 2 on pc and you think gtaiv (leftover 360 assets in a game do not equal port) was bad.
mac gaming isnbt taking over anything either. consoles win because they are better for games. simple

Consoles are not better for games. It's just that most people are casual; they aren't interested in extreme precision aiming or silky smooth frames. They just want to get to the couch and into the game as efficiently as possible. Laziness sells.
Last good console was the Gamecube.

No I never played saint row before but I am aware of its crap port on the PC. When I mention THQ i was considering their good PC games like Just Cause 2 ,Metro 2033 and soon last light AND the Dawn of War series. THQ can be alright sometimes depends on their studios. I'm not saying PC's trump consoles like I mean where else can I find great games like FF, Uncharted and Mario and whatever. What I'm saying is PC is receiving as much love from publishers as there given to consoles.

Enhanced my butt. What little DX10 support it has is still better then what either console can do. Yes, I said what little because it's built on top of DX9 with DX10 extension.

Add 3 display support
Add 3D on all 3 displays

Again, enhanced my butt. Nothing but marketing fluff.
