This week’s Battlefield 4 announcement, for some odd reason, sent Battlefield 3 players into an angry fury. Apparently, they were concerned that now that DICE is working on a sequel, the studio would stop supporting its current multi-million player project. Makes sense, right?

EA, of course, wants Battlefield fans to know that it intends to fully support Battlefield 3 with more content expansions (read: paid content) all the way through End Game and beyond. But you don’t have to take my word for it:

“Just as we've continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4. There are several teams at DICE. Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can.”

So there you have it, Battlefield fans: If you’re one of the nine or ten BF3 players that doesn’t buy BF4, you’ll have plenty of chances to give EA more of your money. Just don’t count on those servers you own transferring over.
