EA Knocks Out THQ, Takes UFC Title |
Listed in: News Tags: EA, THQ, UFC

It was announced at EA's E3 conference that EA has taken over the UFC license once held by THQ. Andrew Wilson, EA Sports president, said of the deal, "We're thrilled to to begin a long-term partnership that will bring fans incredibly authentic, and deeply connected, UFC games."
UFC president Dana White said, "We'd like to thank THQ for creating some of the most critically-acclaimed sports video games of this console generation, and we're excited to enter a new relationship with EA that will help us deepen our connection with fighting fans around the world."
This is a far cry from White's previous statements about EA, which as per usual involved a lot of f-bombs and threats. If you haven't been paying attention, a few years ago the UFC went to EA with the idea of making a game, but EA Sports said MMA wasn't a sport and they were "disgusted" by it, according to White. So the UFC went to THQ. Of course, once MMA started really taking off EA made their own non-UFC mixed martial arts games. Dana then said that any fighter appearing in an EA title would be forever banned from the UFC in real life. In no time, many fighters whose likenesses appeared in EA titles showed up in the UFC.
Once again, if you haven't been paying attention, this is par for the course with Dana White. He's all over the place at all times. He says he's at war with a person or organization, but once it becomes profitable he loves them to death. So now he loves EA. Hopefully the games they make are better than the THQ ones.

I'm not defending EA, just defending my statement that Dana does this all the time, especially when he has a falling out with fighters. I don't really care one way or another, but it's kind of his thing.
