Dynasty Warriors 7 tops Japanese charts

Tecmo Koei's latest hack 'n slash installment debuts on top of the Japanese software charts, while the 3DS remains the top selling hardware for the week.

It should be noted though that Media Create's tracking period ran from March 6 through March 12. The earthquake and tsunami disaster that struck the Tohoku region was on early afternoon of the 11th.

For the week ending March 13, Dynasty Warriors 7 debuted atop of the the software chart, moving 253,090 copies, knocking Square-Enix's second Final Fantasy beat-em-up, Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy, down to second spot, with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask clinging in to the third spot.

Here's Media Create's top 20 software sales chart for the week ending March 13:

  7. SD Gundam G Generation World (Namco Bandai, PSP, 2/24): 20,410 (259,380)
  8. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (Capcom, PSP, 12/1): 18,554 (4,370,436)

Now moving on to the hardware charts, the Nintendo 3DS remains on top, moving 96,463 for the week, with PSP and the PS3 securing the second and third spot respectively.

I think the current events in Japan will greatly affect next weeks result though, in my opinion, it would be best if they would skip it a week or two
