Duke Nukem Forever Delayed in Japan

Gamers are still gagging over the huge steaming turd Gearbox Software dropped on the games industry last year. It was called Duke Nukem Forever, and though it took 14 years to get to retail shelves, it took about ten seconds after that implode into its own terribleness.

The game is being prepped for a Japanese launch (since, as you know, Japanese gamers love western titles), but Take-Two doesn’t believe the game is quite ready. The publisher has delayed Duke Nukem Forever by about three weeks, pushing it to a March 29 release. The reason? Take-Two is tweaking the game in the hopes of delivering “a better product.”

It's unclear what Take-Two thinks they can accomplish in three weeks, unless they’re planning on replacing all of the Duke Nukem Forever discs with better games and hoping players won’t notice. Duke Nukem Forever was an unmitigated flop, with reviews so terrible the PR team supporting the game cried real Twitter tears.

Then again, there’s always hope in Japan. Perhaps Japanese gamers will find something to love about Duke and his dated methods.

The real question is:
Did you?

Because the reviews were a bit unfair and everyone I saw so far calling the game a "huge steaming turd" hasn't even played it.

I played Sniper: Ghost Warrior recently. According to Metacritic it's an equal/better game.

Is anyone agreeing to this? I doubt it. Because Duke Nukem Forever was at least good at what it wanted to do while Sniper was just clunky at everything.

Actually, yes I did. From start to finish.

The game really IS a huge steaming turd. It did just about everything wrong while also having bugs and glitches thrown into the mix.

I agree i think the game got extra harsh reviews and many people ragging on it that didn't even bother playing it. I thought it was a B title just like every other shooter no better no worse

Holy crap, the game still hasen't been released in all the regions it was planned for? Thats kinda ridiculous....

What could three weeks possibly give them anyway? The game is findamentally broken, they woudl have to re-create the game from scratch to "fix" it.

DN at least was fun to play, beside the errors and long loading times, at least on PS3, dont know on 360 if was the same, but like the first guy said, Sniper Ghost Crap, was horrible, its pure error, buggy pile of crap, and metacritc give a better score, people havent played any of them, Im for sure.

Shitty article on a quickly-becoming shitty site. The game is simple eye candy fun. It's not as great as it should've been, it was incredibly overhyped, but it was enjoyable in a mindless way.

I played this game but gave up on it somewhere around driving the pickup truck through the desert.
The game has plenty of promise you can see where they were going with it, the humour is funny in a Duke Nukem way. What is unforgivable about the game is the load times and this is down to a game engine that is not suited to this sort of game. Unreal engine always has hidious load times it's just that the other games that use it you don't die so easy as you do in Duke. The other thing it did wrong was movement, Duke just doesn't move or aim as well as other console shooters like halo do. If they are addressing all these issues (which I doubt) it could be a good game.
They should have gave it to Bungie to finish for the consoles / swap out the game engine with Halo engine.

I had been the biggest of Duke fans for many years (played D3D endlessly, created custom MP maps etc.) - and I reeeeaaally hoped DNF would be fun.

I didn't even complete it, it sucked so much. Also, terrible design choices everywhere (the almighty Duke can carry only two weapons at once now - wait, what? He got old or what?!), the alien levels far too serious and dark for a comical character like Duke, the controls sloppy (on console at least)... well, I could go on. I wanted to love the Duke again, I really did, but it was just impossible.

Doesn't mean I won't buy any other Duke game, should there be one in the future. As long as it's well done - the Duke himself is still cool!
