To clear the air over the brewing Battlefield 3 boycott, DICE has posted a lengthy FAQ on the Physical Warfare Pack and Back to Karkand pre-order items issue.

Yesterday, we reported about a mass boycott over EA's plan for the Battlefield 3's downloadable content, a move, which according Reddit user "Ramphastid," grants unfair advantage to customers who pre-order the game. In a post over at the the Battlefield Blog, DICE tried to explain the issues raised by gamers over the DLC.

Q: Is the Physical Warfare Pack available in all regions, or just in the UK?
A: It will be available worldwide at select retailers. It was first announced in the UK. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Will Physical Warfare Pack imbalance the game?
A: The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.

Q: Why do I want the Physical Warfare Pack?
A: Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield.

Q: Is the Back to Karkand expansion pack exclusive to pre-orders?
A: No. You can also buy it separately if you do not pre-order Battlefield 3. Back to Karkand will be available the exact same date after the launch of Battlefield 3 no matter if you pre-ordered or buy it separately.

Q: When will the Back to Karkand expansion pack be released?
A: We have not yet announced the Back to Karkand expansion pack release date.

Q: How much does the Back to Karkand Expansion pack cost?
A: We have not yet announced a price. However, it will be included in the Limited Edition at no extra charge.

Q: Do I have to choose between Back to Karkand and the Physical Warfare Pack as my pre-order bonus?
A: No. There is no way you can pre-order Battlefield 3: Limited Edition and not end up with the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge. On top of this, select retailers all over the world will carry the Physical Warfare Pack. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Why do you offer pre-order bonus items?
A: Because we believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers -- such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.

Battlefield 3 will hit stores starting October 25, 2011, with a multi-platform open beta scheduled in September.

I'm really not a big fan of pre-order bonuses when eventually you're also getting the game

Im all for pre-order bonuses as long as they make them available for premium after the fact. Kinda like MK did.

I believe the boycott of any game is kind of stupid. WAH! the people who spent their money and pre ordered it got a few more gadgets or whatever. Fuck that. You had the same opportunity. Just because you get shot with the M416 with the gl and a 4x scope on day on of the release (just making an example) doesn't mean you should "boycott" it. If anything stop playing CoD that franchise ran it's course and hit a brick wall when activision decided to give the title to treyarch. Worst decision any company has ever done.

I dont see why so many people are crying over pre order bonuses! I mean its one thing if they are charging $70 for the limited edition but if the price is the same (such as in this example) who cares?!

All I am getting is the incentive to get the game on day 1, thereby supporting DICE, and getting free stuff at the same time. Most places allow you to put down just a fraction of the game price for the pre order and if you decide you dont want it after all you can still get your money back. For the diehards that wait for what other critics have to say about the game just pre order and pick up after the reviews come up. The beautiful thing about pre ordering is that you dont have to pick it up if you dont want to!

I for one hate Exclusive DLC that is only available in Collectors Edition packages that are $100+ (Infamous 2 comes to mind) but give me a free upgrade to limited edition and Ill pre order every time, especially if its a game with a history of satisfying their fans.
