Devs Received Death Threats Over New Devil May Cry

In an interview with OXM, Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades revealed that he has received death threats over his studio's reboot of the Devil May Cry franchise. DmC: Devil May Cry features a younger, more rough-around-the edges Dante and a lot of fans really have their panties in a bunch over it. So much so that they have sent Antoniades death threats in the form of comic books and "anti-DmC death metal songs."

 

Antoniades said he wasn't all that surprised, as he was warned by Alex Garland (writer of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, which was developed by Ninja Theory) that it may happen. Apparently, Garland himself has received death threats over 28 Days Later because "it didn't feature real zombies" (huh?) and also for his upcoming Dredd movie, which is another take on the Judge Dredd comic. I don't see how he could do a worse job than that Stallone flick, but I digress.

 

He also says that he has heard from others that are interested in DmC, whereas they were not interested before the furor.

 

So I guess Tameem Antoniades got to experience nerd rage first hand. We've all had our bouts of nerd rage to various degrees, but outright threatening the life of a developer over a fictional character is well out of hand.

They should send death threats to the makers of Twilight because i used to like Vampires but because of that crap most movies and tv shows have just turned Vampires into moody, misunderstood pussies.

If threats should be sent to any1 then, Capcom should be were they are sent in the first place not Team Ninja. It's been stated the their Design was very similar to the original design of "Dante" but Capcom told them the alter the design a lot more.
