Dead Space movie still in prod, prequel idea ditched

It's been a couple of years since production started on Dead Space the movie. It's 2011 now and guess what, it's still in production. It's taken so long, one can't help but wonder what's up with it.

In a recent interview with D.J. Caruso, thanks to a German press tour for I Am Number Four,the director revealed that they are still going at the Dead Space film

"We're working on a story," he told AreaGames. Actually, as it turns out, they thought of making it a prequel of the game's storyline, but they had to eventually ditch that.

"We had one attempt of trying to do a prequel," he explained, "but the story didn't quite work out as well as we wanted it to. But if we can capture how - I don't want to say, I guess, how scary or horrifying it would be to play that game because it's really, really fantastic. It'd be fun to make that into a movie."

To me it is a good sign when they take a little long. Wouldn't want this movie to be "thrown together". If they take long because of money problems as on the Halo movie, that's not good. (Still have high hopes for that one). If they do it righ, this will be an awesome, another rare milestone of an high end horror movie.
