Dead Island logo gets cleaned up for North America

Remember that dead body hanging from the tree on the Dead Island logo? Yeah, that won't be on the North American version.

Deep Silver has confirmed to IGN that they will be sending out "clean" versions of the logo, probably because they don't want to go through the hassle of having to wait until the ESRB makes them change it.

If you'll remember, back in 2009, the ratings board had Valve change their logo for Left 4 Dead 2, which featured a zombie hand, with only two fingers intact. Because you know, it is part 2 after all. Valve, of course, complied, but it's fairly easy to imagine how that could be an unnecessary burden on the publisher, particularly on their marketing front.

Back to Dead Island. The new North American version of the logo will instead be featuring a zombie lumbering about on the ground, but strategically placed to fill in the letter I in "Island". You know it's a zombie because of the stance of the body, and the head appears all sorts of distorted.

This change, however, will not affect that of the other regions. Europe, so we hear, will still be getting the hanging corpse in the logo.

As long as the game delivers, what's in the logo shouldn't really matter.

I don't see what the problem is. There's tons of hanging corpses in Homefront. In that game theres even a level where you watch a group of captured Korean soldiers get lynched. Also, there was lynchings in Red Dead Redemption and you can see hanging corpses in the trailer for the upcoming Spec Ops game. I don't think ESRB would really have a problem with it, especially after their trailer is a little girl falling out of a freaking building and impacting the ground inches from the camera...

So much time and effort on....nothing. The ESRB is such a waste of money.

i would rather wanna read an article about the game, gameplay, new info about dead island and see an article talking about a logo change....
