It wasn't a total failure, though. Executive Producer DeadMeat did announced on their Facebook page that the hotfix did considerably lower the instances of freezes, but they're not going to claim they've cured the game of this malady a ful hundred percent. 

"Quite simply the game gets into a state where it requires more memory and there is nomore to give. ... This is unfortunately a very hard error to fix since it is usually situational. Meaning that you need the right combination of things going on around you at the right moment in time to trigger the fault.

We cannot create in house the same conditions that thousands of players online can so we have to make guesses about where the issues lie and try and find a solution. We have obviously not guessed them all."

They do promise that they're keeping it as their number one priority, so just keep those fingers crossed and hopefully SOE will find an absolute cure for DC Universe Online's freezing problem. The game also recently moved to their Super Servers just last month.
