Dark Souls: Now with Accessibility! |

Dark Souls is a hard, punishing game. More than that, it’s a tough game to get into—you sort of have to learn as you go, suffering hundreds of painful and embarrassing deaths along the way. Dark Souls II will also be hard, but it’s looking as though it may not be so punishing for those new to the franchise.

Game director Tomohiro Shibuya has confirmed that devs are working to make the latest iteration in the Dark Souls series a bit easier on newer players:
“Accessibility to players who haven’t picked up Dark Souls is definitely a key topic. Right in the beginning when players first pick up the game is something that I will definitely focus on. To not immediately throw them into Dark Souls but provide a good introduction in terms of what the game’s about and how the game should be played.”
Before you get out your pitchforks, Shibuya has noted in the past that Dark Souls II will be just as hard as the first game, but with less confusion. He’s hoping to preserve the difficulty and brutality while making the game a touch easier to understand.
We’ll just have to wait and see how that goes.
