PS4 Could Be Backwards Compatible Through Stream?
The PS4 has been the talk of the town lately considering we could very well be getting our first look at the infamous console as soon as this coming Wednesday. All that being said, there have been a ton of rumors from various publications out there, but none so as well known as the Wall Street Journal. According to their report, the next Sony machine will utilize the Gaikai streaming service to allow users to play PS3 games on their newly purchased system.

In my expert opinion, I could certainly see this as being a solid idea. Considering the company forked over a full $380 million in July to purchase Gaikai, Sony is obviously pretty seriously invested in streaming. There still remains a lot of questions to be asked however, and many of them are essential to whether a service like this could actually be worthwhile. The big one of these is, just how many of my older games will be up there to stream? If I can only play the big Sony stuff, that will be all well and good, but it's hard to call that backwards compatible. Not to mention I would never pay extra to play a game I already own on disc if it were to come to that. In an ideal world, every PSX, PS2, and PS3 game would be up for streaming and freely unlockable as long as you own the disc. However I think I'm really dreaming when it comes to that. For me, backwards compatibility is a very important feature. Any way the PS4 can address that issue is worth looking into.
That's all the news I have for now, but with the PlayStation Event coming Wednesday, I can assure you I will have more by week's end. Thanks again for reading my confessions. I sincerely appreciate it!
