PS4 to Be Unveiled February 20th?
Probably the hottest topic on everybody's mind in the gaming industry these days is the next-generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony. While last week's edition of Confessions may have talked about reveals being made as late as E3, we finally have some official word that this may not in fact be the case. Instead, Sony has invited the press to a special event on February 20th to experience the so-called "future" of their brand. Are they talking about the PS4? Obviously we can't be completely certain until the day, but I would venture to guess that they are.

As I have said in the past, I am a massive fan of having hardware makers create their own announcement events to plug their latest systems. From a marketing perspective, it's really just a means of controlling the spotlight to shine when and where you want it. E3 is a spectacle for huge things to come, but in the scope of the conference you are just one of many big topics. Making your biggest news come beforehand then puts more attention on the company where it belongs. If this reveal is in the cards, I'm going to speculate that a holiday 2013 release seems just about right. As for E3, there will be tons of game announcements to be made, and any confusion that may come after the 20th will probably be addressed then as well. Who is ready for the PS4?
That's all I have now, but the week ahead certainly looks to be exciting. Odds are we could be talking more next-gen news alongside some iOS jailbreaks so keep it tuned to QJ and Confessions of a Gamer!
