Let’s take a quick moment to congratulate the folks behind Child’s Play, the charity that helps provide hospitals with kid’s toys and games, for their amazing efforts in 2012. The organization raised a whopping $5,085,761 last year, easily besting the previous record of $3.5 million set in 2011.

In the group’s official announcement, organizers recognized Humble Bundle, Loading Ready Run, a few crazy gaming marathons and others for their dedication to the cause. Here’s a quick clip from the statement’s closing remarks:
“We are overwhelmed, honored, grateful, and incredibly proud to be a part of such an amazing community of generous gamers. Thank you for a record-breaking 2012!”
It’s worth noting that Child’s Play doesn’t rely entirely on donations to accomplish its mission—interested parties can also browse the organization’s list of supported hospitals and buy items from their wish lists directly. There are currently 70 hospitals on the registry, with more being added on the regular.
Did you contribute to Child’s Play or any other charities last year? If no, why are you such a selfish bastard?
