Child’s Play Brings in $3.5 Million |
Listed in: News Tags: childâs play, Penny Arcade
Child’s Play is evidence that gamers can do more than simply sit around and smash through digital enemies – every now and then, we can do something nice. The charity, originally the brainchild of Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, gathers money with the intent of bringing engaging toys and video games to sick kids, a noble cause indeed.

Child’s Play is driven entirely by community donations, and even in harsh economic times, it looks like the community was feeling more generous than ever. The goal set by the organizers was $2 million, which puts the total haul of $3,512,345 well above expectations.
In a statement on the official Child’s Play website, its organizers noted that one should never underestimate the generosity of the gaming community. They also said that they’re feeling good about 2012, especially considering that every year the charity has been active has managed to top the previous one in terms of total donations.
Nice work, Child’s Play! Did any of you make a donation?
