Catherine's cover changed for North America |

Catherine's box art cover has been stirring up some controversy because of the suggestive image it portrays. While there's definitely a solid storyline and a lesson to be had, it's pretty hard to get past Catherine's sexy image. For this, Atlus decided to change the game's cover art, specifically for the Western market.
Explained creative designer Jeremy Cail, "We have two different versions of Catherine cover art. There's already two different versions, one for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, but the altered imagery was at the request of some of our retail partners. They wanted the change in case people got the wrong idea about the game... or, as I see it, the right idea about Catherine! No change to the games themselves - the disc themselves are the same."
He also revealed that they had to alter some of the posters, taking out Vincent from the scene. "We did what we could to bring the art out; if it works, we try to preserve the art because having the same thing that Japanese consumers have is a thrill for our niche."

Why'd you take me out of the posters guys?
"We also have to balance concerns of the original designers in Japan; maybe we'll want to use one pice of art in this way or that, but we'll ask them and they'll say it wasn't the intent to use it that sort of way. But with the badge stuffer (depicting Catherine with her legs spread)... it took three to four iterations to get there, but people seem to like it."
Catherine's official website was just launched last month, so you can check out more of the action right there. The deluxe edition and the pre-order bonuses were also recently revealed.

Alternatively - print it on the middle pages of the manual so it can be removed (would be a bit smaller then though)

Note: Gameplay has not been changed, only the cover art has been changed for the alternate version.
Unlike what your article seems to convey, you do have a choice in which to buy. Most retailers are stocking the original cover and not the alternate cover anyways.
