Capcom optimistic about PS3 sales this year

Capcom had previously shared their sales expectations for their upcoming games. Most of those titles are multiplatform releases, but which console in particular does the company expect to make most of their money on? The PS3, as it turns out.

Further details on the company's sales forecast were released recently, showing that Capcom expects to sell 18 million units spread across 55 titles. Capcom will be releasing 16 of those 55 titles on PS3, and they expect those games to sell a total of 8 million units.

The Xbox 360 followed closely in second place with 14 releases, but the forecast for the Microsoft console pegs sales at only 4.7 million units. In light of Nintendo's expected E3 reveal of the Wii successor, Capcom has cut its number of Wii releases for the current fiscal year to only two, expecting sales of only 200,000 units.

Capcom's forecast for the current fiscal year can be seen below. The numbers in parentheses are last year's totals.

PS3: 16 titles, 8 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
X360: 14 titles, 4.7 million units (11 / 4.2 million)
DS/3DS: 9 titles, 2.4 million units (11 / 1.7 million)
PSP: 11 titles, 2.2 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
PC/Other: 3 titles, 500,000 units (3 / 500,000)
Wii: 2 titles, 200,000 units (5 / 1.4 million)
