There have been a few failed Streets of Rage remakes over the years, including one from Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games. Now some footage of that particular remake has surfaced, and it looks like it could have been pretty sweet. After 1997's Fighting Force (it was originally supposed to be Streets of Rage 4) and GRIN's proposed remake, apparently Ruffian got the green light at some point.

The footage popped up on Vimeo and Sean Noonan from Ruffian confirmed that he had indeed been involved in it, saying via Twitter, "So it seems like one of my previous projects has leaked, as pretty as I remember."

Check out the footage and let us know what you think!  Click here to go to Vimeo.

# It looks alright but......Dr84 2012-12-06 11:49
It looks alright for a beatem up, but this doesn't look like a Streets of Rage game at all. Take away the arcade place and the nostalgia scenery, it's a average beat'em up. Heck the main character you use in the begining looks nothing like any of the original character, despite "Jack" being a totally new character as well. I persanlly think it was a good call to cancel it. But who knows, we may see it as a different game in the future. :P
