Call of Duty Elite will be Game Changer

Call of Duty Elite is shaping up to be the next step in game networking and by game networking I mean, people being able to call each other genitalia and ridiculous slurs quicker. The actual use of Call of Duty Elite is mixed so far. It'll be essentially Facebook for people who like to shoot people in the face and then brag about it.

What started out in similar fashion to Guitar Hero's Leaderboards with people being able to share their highest scores to friends, Call of Duty Elite takes it a step further with being able to tell friends and family with linking to Facebook. EA also jumped on the bandwagon this year with Battlelog being apart of their game networking system with BF3 being released.

"We believe that a 24/7, year-round services strategy that broadens the game experience beyond just playing is going to be a necessity," says Jamie Berger, an Activision VP. "Right now, it's an option but in three to five years, it won't be. To support a diverse player base, you will have to have a services and ongoing content strategy."

Activision's own Call of Duty: Elite will actually be a paid service that gives subscribers early access to DLC and exclusive ancillary content, but also helps with setting up matches, tournaments and a possibility of cash prizes. EA's Battlelog for Battlefield 3 will simply be a free service that provides social networking and matchmaking; players will have to buy DLC separately.

This is obviously a test for Activision with taking it's biggest franchise and making it a great gaming experience and then moving it to social networking as they have plans to adapt it to other games with long lasting franchises such as FIFA 12 and Need for Speed.

I imagine similar services will be running by end of 2012, whether I'll be apart of it, I'm not sure...might check my Mayan calander.

Rubbish game series hoping to charge you for everything in the future. I would say in 5 years time , when you will have COD number 21 ( Modern Warfare3 is technically COD 16 if you add up every iteration so far ) , you will be paying £55 - £65 for your new COD disc with 5 levels on it . The " Rest " of the game you paid for will just be a DLC sausage fest . But it won't stop there.....

You will be forced to pay for this silly Elite suscription to get every last bit of content that should've been on your disc at launch. I think what Treyarch / Activision do is purely disgusting , as it's never been about the gamer , it's just a money making exercise . And it will remain as much until gamers grow up & say enough is enough ....

But by then it will be too late , and they will have snared yet another generation of kids into their " Pay for everything scheme ".

Anyone who pays for this service has no common sense & deserves to be ripped off by these parasites ...... Enjoy !

and this is y ill be getting BF3 and not MW3 this year :) ive had more fun playing the buggy beta than i ever did playing any of the cods (save COD3 maybe)

might as well...we all bitch about cod but we still buy it cuz its fun to play ...specially from I.W( i hate Treyarch) so if u get the hardend its $100 bux u get the game collective case random swag and a year of elite...wich in turn will pay for the dlc that we all will buy even tho we hate the price....so invest now and save later.

CoD hasn't been fun to play since CoD 2. I haven't bought a Call of Duty game since 4. It's been the same copy & paste crap since then, with the same lackluster twitch gameplay. I'm sorry, but EA was right.. Just look at Guitar Hero.. Activision takes the creative properties of a talented studio and hands it off to an entirely different developer, who, in all honesty, doesn't have a clue what the original devs were striving for. Not to mention they aren't even working with an engine that they created. They're working with an engine Infinity Ward created.

Yeah yeah.. Infinty Ward's name is on this one.. so is Sledgehammer Games.. IW lost core members, and development is being backed by... Who the hell is Sledgehammer Games anyway?

I knew as soon as I saw this posted the comments would be full of people talking trash about something that's not out yet and nobody really knows much about. The bottom line is it's worth the price for the DLC alone if you enjoy COD, if you don't just stick with BF3 and quit trying to trash COD to try to make BF3 seem like it's going to be so good. God you people are f'n stupid.

If you can't see the truth of what this company is about then that's your choice .

But you're right as a COD fanboy in denial to presume that there will be bad comments on a bad company pushing a bad idea.

That's why there are negative comments , ( Obviously ).
