Bodycount director said Bulletstorm proved there's life outside of CoD

If there's one thing that Bulletstorm successfully proved, it's that there's more to life than just playing Call of Duty.

This was the conclusion derived by Codemasters' game director, Andy Wilson (Bodycount) out of the whole experience, as expounded on iIn an interview with CVG.

Here, he revealed that he considered Epic Games' Bulletstorm to be his "acid test" for how is upcoming game, Bodycount, will be welcomed when it comes out later this year.

"Yeah, it is [promising]. It shows there's a market outside of Call of Duty. It shows that there's room aroudn those huge titles like Battlefield and Medal of Honor. It's nice to see that you can still have multi-million-selling FPS games that are not that."

"We looked at Bulletstorm and I think it's fair to say that it was a sort of 'acid test' for us. Because they were coming out first we were very interested in how they did and it's a very good sign."

Wilson's game, Bodycount, is coming out on August 30 for North America, while it's slated to launch in Europe on September 2nd.

What happened to people making games that they wanted to make because they thought it was a good idea: for the love of the art?

Make me sick. basically. We want to make something that will instantly sell Millions and make us money. so we are trying to copy everything about that makes money and produce a package that makes money. Yeah Bullet storm was ok. But fek it, lets be serious It was mass market drivle. Quake 1 is still more of a challenging insight into level design and fun.

I think that without that Whip thing, I would have been bored of BStorm in 3 levels....

I played this game and it was STUPID. The only gamers it would appeal to ARE CoD lovers, who think that stupid run n' gun no skill needed tactics is a good game. Anyone with REAL skill would tell you this is crap then get back on CS:S, TF2, Bad Company 2, Quake... A lot of other games. IF you think that CoD is best you obviously aren't really a gamer, and if you say you are your a lier - and if you call others nerds, your a little hypocratic bitch who feels pro at CoD then calls kids names like an eThug. SUCK DICK.
