Bethesda: Elder Scrolls is ours

If there's one thing Bethesda wants to make clear, it's that the Elder Scrolls series is theirs alone. Sure, they may be open to sending out its development externally, but as it stands, they'd much rather have it in their own hands, where they can guarantee that the production will always be up to par with their own standards.

Todd Howard himself expounded on this possibility - or lack thereof - of having external devs work on their famed franchise.
"I don't know, we kind of take it bit by bit. I mean New Vegas was unique: as a publisher, we wanted to do something with Obsidian; we knew we were moving on Elder Scrolls; they had a team available... They age us the pitch and we were like, 'That would be a really fun game'. But they had experience with the IP, and with Elder Scrolls we don't have that. I wouldn't rule that out, but generally with everything we want to keep it internal."

Bethesda is currently busy with the upcoming launch of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. So far, thye've promised us that it's going to be "more accessible", while the DLCs will go for quality instead of quantity. There is, however, no demo planned for it at this point.
