Battlefield on PS3: Alpha Demo underwhelming at Gamescom |

For those of you who weren't cosy in bed or relaxing in your swivel chairs over the weekend, Gamescom happened and it was pretty awesome, whilst I only attended in my dreams, there were some people's dreams realised and dashed all at the same time. Despite winning a few awards at the event, the lovely people at Kotaku go a great review of what they played.
Whilst the message was mainly positive for some of the single player and multi-player, it was the Alpha staged Co-Op sections which really turned out to be mediocre according to Luke Plunkett. Starting his review off saying “most stuff you expect from co-op was there.” Detailing the usual with [reviving] downed colleagues” with save points.
EA and DICE have been clever with making you play the mode with encouraging “unlockable weapons for multiplayer” that only become available after clearing co-op missions. Whether or not Battlefield really needs a co-op syetem is left to be seen...it seems from Plunkett's review that they will really need to pull their weight to make it as engaging or as interesting as other co-op titles or the competition.
Plunkett continues with some meh-ness “the level design, beginning with interior corridors and ending with confined city streets, was incredibly linear, and also had its fair share of bugs”, while being on PS3 did it no favours in terms of performance, with “the action slowing down during busier sections, aiming getting slow and sluggish, particularly when using a gun’s thermal sights”.
Right now I'm torn between being lazy and getting the PS3 version or actually making a rig from the few dollars I have from catching money from the sky and getting it on PC and dealing with the possibly lame DRM called Origin.
