It's been said that Assassin's Creed III will bring an end to the story of Desmond Miles - the guy "puppeteering" Altair and Ezio through their various adventures in the past. Ubisoft has put out a video that lets us take a look at the story so far and how it will affect things to come. It goes over the things we already know, like the fact that Desmond wanted nothing to do with any of this stuff he inherited and was content to waste his life away working as a bartender.

But then it goes into some end-of-the-world stuff involving the First Civilization and whatnot. It's all going down on December 21st, 2012, apparently. So get all your livin' in the next few months, I suppose.

Another thing worth noting is that the trailer features Desmond's mysterious father, who has barely been touched upon in previous games. All we know is that he is neck-deep in the Assassin organization and is actively taking the fight to the Templars, AKA Abstergo Industries.

And yet there's still no explanation as to how the American Revolution - the setting for AC3 - plays into all this. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
