"April 2011 represents the first month that new physical retail sales of content showed growth in both units and dollars since November of last year," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier. "The Xbox 360 platform generated the greatest unit sales of new physical content at over 3.5 million units for the month, followed by the Nintendo DS platform. The Nintendo DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms all generated greater unit sales of content versus April 2010."

Mortal Kombat
is the best selling game of the month, which sold just less than 900,000 units, according Frazier, with Portal 2 and Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars taking the second and third spot respectively. "The content slate was stronger this year versus last April," concluded Frazier. "Five games sold more than 250K units in April 2011 as opposed to just two last April."

Here's the top 10 software sales result for April 2011:

  1. Mortal Kombat 2011 (Warner Bros. Interactive) (PS3, 360)

The people have spoken Zipper, You officially killed Socom. A dead man beat out Socom. It didn't even crack the top ten. I don't know why they thought COD fans would drop their real game and buy some nexgen Socom game. They should have left it as it was. Looking forward to Slant 6 Resident Evil shooter.
