Apathy Reigns as Dead Island is banned in Germany |

The game Dead Island, came out in September and has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences any game of 2011 has been able to offer with zombies, however the game has taken a beating in Germany and been outright banned...but no one seems to care.
The reaction from Techland has been less than surprising as they say "[It] isn't unexpected" and they knew about the "unique regulations regarding videogames and violence and the industry can only comply", they also added they knew what they were getting into "from the beginning," as the game has entered "List B," which means that it's "youth-endangering media."
This means that the game cannot be legally sold or obtained in Germany, let alone imported. Oddly enough the owners of Deep Silver, the German company, known as the Koch Media Group. They have said and have been willing to comply with their home country's restrictions saying they will not 'distribute or sell Dead Island in Germany" as their intention was to "bring the game to international markets, as the product seems better suitable for audiences abroad."
Now I know Koch is just covering their asses and saying that, hey maybe this game wasn't made for Germans, but I like to think it's a sly undercut remark towards international gamers being a bit more aggressive or violent. If you have played Dead Island, I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. That game is gory as hell.

Or it could be saying our youth is smart enough not to be influenced by it. Not that they should have the game anyway, its an 18 in europe for a reason. Its all well and good saying that video games influence the youth, but the parents are to blame for letting them play games like that in the first place.

It was a constant 300 meter dash to pick up items while hacking your way through some of the most annoying zombies I've ever had the displeasure of killing.
The RPG element didn't even make up for it, just felt tacked on to give the game some false difficulty.

Moreover, Germany has a long tradition of banning and cutting Games and Movies, so this is nothing new.
I am so glad I did pirate to try this, because this borderlands clone is left far behind. On of the most shitty games this year.
