Anonymous to stage largest protest against Sony yet

Last weekend, Anonymous geared up to be what was supposedly their big protest against Sony. The only problem was, it wasn't as huge as they expected it to be.

The group called for PlayStation 3 users to boycott Sony in several stores, but has failed to cause any backbreaking damage to the company. "Moderate success" was how they characterized the April 16th boycott.

They're not about to give up the fight, though, as the group has now released another video calling for another protest, this time, tagging it as "the big one".

They're molding it as a global portest against Sony's belief in "their right to turn a profit on your ability to share information."

So what do they intend this time to showcase their patent abhorrence for Sony?

Here's their gameplan laid out in this image they released, alongside the video calling for the newest boycott:

  • Connect to local wifi connections at Sony stores and DoS the local IP. Use Man In The Middle attacks, use up their bandwidth.
  • Megaphones are awesome. Use them creatively and consistently.Target stores - Complain to their managers. - Constantly phone the stores. - Cause mental mayhem.
  •  Skype, VOIP, and PrankDial.com are great telephone tools.

Check out their latest vid below. Will you be joining Anonymous in this rally of theirs against Sony?

These guys crack me up. I'm not happy with Sony's actions. But I'm an adult with the ability to make my own decisions. This is, in my opinion, little more than non-violent terrorism. I do not own a PS3 by my choice, but I believe some may be blindsided by groups such as these and may then make rash choices before getting all of the facts. There are two sides to every coin, but life is about more than money.

Nicely done. We really need to fXXX up Sony. It is a pure evil entity, and it needs to get destroyed.

Also do the same for Microsoft and Nintendo, please.

Coming from most likely another teen that supports piracy. The irony of calling us evil. :-* Stop stealing our products, ask you mother from money to buy them if necessary. The only good thing you said in your comment was to help destroy Microsoft and Nintendo.

Might be a stupid question, but since when did Sony reps get bad at spelling? That, and being behind people who attempt to destroy companies.

Sony and Microsoft suck balls.. completely, theres far too many reasons for me to write here and I cba to anyway but I only agree with one thing these hacker kids have said which was the whole PC thing they mentioned that one time. Y'know the one I mean?

Also, I still don't see anything to justify the cost of Sony's console. It's a shiny 360 with less features. I own both and neither one are as good as people claim they are.

If they want to do big damage then attack $ony in the first week of the NGP launch.
Have protest rallies at their shops so they are closed for the week, use prank call sites and software to fill up the lines, and just get everyone to not by the NGP. That'll hurt $ony really hard and thats what they deserve. F $ONY!

I love Anonymous in a way that they could work as an effective group if they sort out 2 problems.

1. Grow the heck up and stop little 12 years old following seasoned hackers/spammers.

2. Be more collective and organised and use a little more common sense.

All they are doing is defacing and causing as much damage as they intended to stop?

"Sony you put your penis in the behind" WTF??

Also i love the Halo Music big up Microsoft there! :D

I love how in that video they show pictures from their protests against Scientology, like that relates to what happened the other weekend?

They should face the facts that nobody really cares about this topic in comparison to Scientology and therefore it will not receive the same exposure, nor have the same effect.

Anon had better be smart enough to watch their backs... because they're being a bunch of fucktards which, people fighting for real causes may not find so amusing.

Also, like the fail that was the last protest, there'll be an even bigger failure this time around... cuz no one gives a rats ass.

I don't know about this one. The IRC doesn't have anything posted about this and its not on the youtube channel. Nor is it in the standard Anon video style. This seems iffy to me and more like someone taking it into their own hands under the banner of Anonymous, or just people trying to make them seem worse than they are. They are in the right in everything they do IMO and I support them 100%. People just love to not be informed to the situation or fully understand anything.

So just because some japan based company does things you dont like; it somehow makes the deaths of thousands of people not only understandable but right?

So according to your logic since I disagree with what you say, if someone shot you in the head it is just karma and therefore all is well in the world?

Ok, now this is getting dumb. Why the hell would they keep anouncing their plans out to the pulic like that knowing damn well that Sony will eventually catch wind of it and counter it like getting bitchslapped for stealing potato bread from the local store. They should keep their plans to themselves and try attacking Sony without them even knowing. I'm just saying, because this getting retarded now.

# They would have more impactlunas 2011-04-19 03:47
They would have more impact on Sony if they had sent massive amounts of post cards/letters and emails outlining the reasons for the displeasure of Sony's practices at least Sony would also have to pay for the disposal of all the mail they would get. Better if they had sent it to the executive boards private residences...
