Anonymous ends attacks on PS3, continue Sony revenge tour |

Internet hacking group Anonymous has apparently ended their attacks on PlayStation 3 related Sony websites, but they haven't stopped attacks on Sony itself.
According to Examiner, Sony Computer Entertainment has "apparently signed on with Prolexic, a DDoS mitigation service that can scrub incoming traffic or employ other tricks to make sites harder to take down."
Reports also suggest that attacks on PS3 related websites and services, such as PSN and official PlayStation blogs, have stopped. However, the hacker group has continued its revenge tour against main Sony websites, including SonyCareers.com, which they claimed to have taken down.
The following comes from the #OpSony Twitter stream:

www.sonycareers.com is down, who's next? Hahah #Anonymous Expect Us.
-Hahahaha.. www.sonycareers.com taken down by #Anonymous"
One has to wonder if Anonymous realizes how hypocritical some of their actions are. MSNBC recently reported that the hacker group is targetting Sony executives by finding their information, along with information on their children -- Anonymous claims that Sony is abusing the court system by gaining access to IP addresses of GeoHot and anyone who visted his website or Youtube channel, yet all Sony wants is for GeoHot to stay away from the PS3. They haven't sued anyone who they gained the identity of via IP address, and they haven't harassed or threatened them like Anonymous has to Sony execs.

That is right. One morning I woke up and was watching the morning news and a news story had to do with video games. The news anchor reporting had a very negative view of video games and was saying things like it was a waste of time and pretty much that people who play video games are lazy. I emailed that news station right away and made a complaint about the comment. Later an apology was sent to me via email but to this day, I don't want to watch that news station. I am an very hardcore gaming fan. At least I think I am. I own a ton of video games from years back and I play when I can. I am pretty busy these days in a high demanding technical field so sometimes I don't have enough time to play as much as I want. People that say video game players are lazy need to get real with reality because I know myself, I am a gamer who spends a lot and money and time on video games every year but also when I work in my high demanding job, I run like crazy, 4 stories high sometimes carrying about 100lbs of equipment to repair machines that if not running all the time, will greatly impact the business I work for. If that is lazy, than I guess I need to die because I am sick of being lazy!

They (the ones involved) think they're achieving something but in reality they're just making the group look like immature fools who get a giggle out to random little attacks on the company; While anyone whom has ever affiliated themselves with the group for legit reasons - mostly in ideals they believe in - are no doubt shaking their heads in disgust.
Anonymous has become the poster child for anyone with even remote knowledge on how to code and hack to play pranks through.

amen. it's rather disturbing when make comments like "they are fighting for our freedom"; statements like that are nothing but delusional. if they really cared, and if they really wanted something done, they would have created a means for people who felt the same to unite and done something more constructive.

Not that I support them, I'm just looking at both sides of it before choosing one.
It's like they're being swarmed by mosquitoes. And not the good ones with West Nile or Malaria... The irritating ones with severe acne and their virginity.
Despite my hate for Sony's actions, I'd never wish that upon them. All I want is for Sony to go down in court (And even then, it's not going to be over.)

If some nerd wants to hack a PS3 so they can play atari 2600 games on it so WHAT?
When I buy a car I can MOD it. I can supe up the engine, put on customer wheels, hell I can install a microwave oven & a tv if I like!
SONY sold PS3 with other OS option, then took it away. This would be like GM selling a car with AC, then demanding all drivers take in their car to the dealer for an update that removes the AC. GM would say "hey it's your choice, you don't have to remove the AC, but it you don't you can't drive it on the road is all".

PERFECT example because SONY said I could keep other OS, but not play ONLINE (like drive), or I can update (remove OS) & then I could play online.
But thank you for agreeing with me that's it's not illegal to mod your PS3, because they are sueing Geohotz because he showed people how to jailbreak/mod their PS3.
I don't understand why people would side with SONY-> when you buy something you should be able to do whatever you want with your own property.

keep OS -no online play/keep AC no on road driving
remove OS, play online/remove AC drive on roads.

Sure piracy is wrong on the iDevice or handhelds, but ITS FUCKING ILLEGAL on any CONSOLE game. Didn't you read that "Do not make illegal copies of this disc" etc.? No one cares about piracy on handheld devices, which is why Sony didn't bother sueing Dark Alex or Total Noob etc.
Sony already won the fight against a few hackers especially Geohot, so i do not know what your talking about, and im sure if they sue the entire process like Apple did, they would actually win.
