Square Enix has announced today that Camilla Luddington will be taking over the voice acting and performance capture duties for Tomb Raider's Lara Croft. Actress Keeley Hawes had previously done the Lara Croft duty for the past several games.
Luddington was born in England and aside from being known as the new voice and face of Tomb Raider she is known for Showtime's Californication and will be appearing on the new season of HBO's True Blood, which is just getting going. She was chosen to play Lara Croft after a lengthy international talent search, and was chosen because of her "emotional depth and youthful tone needed for Lara Croft."
"This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right," Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher said. "This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction."
Luddington will also be at the next Comic-Con in San Diego with the rest of the Tomb Raider team to talk about the franchise's new direction and whatnot.
Tomb Raider will be out March 5th, 2013. Here's hoping Camilla Luddington will be a good fit in the next Tomb Raider.
