A lot of 'snazziness' in the PlayStation 3D Display

Sony's pulling out the big guns for their PlayStation 3D TV. Their aim is no less than to blow everyone's mind when it comes out. Senior PR Specialist for PlayStation Hardware, Abby, said so as much in a recent video interview with GamerFitNation.

Actually, it's not the "PlayStation 3D TV". Rather, it's the "PlayStation 3D Display", she corrected. She went on to explain that you can definitely connect it not only to your PS3, but also to your cable box, or even your PC if you would want. "But technically, it has a transmitter, so it's not a television."

We created this 3D Display to focus specifically on gaming applications, and also entertainment through the gaming applications. It's a 24-inch LCD screen, full 1080p stereoscopic 3D presentation, a lot of snazziness there, but I think what the great new feature we're showcasing here today is a 2-player mode. [It] basically enables two different players to see two different images on one screen, which is crazy! It's kind of like seeing is believing kind of thing, but it's awesome!"

There's more to find out about what the PlayStation 3D Display has to offer, so check out the full video interview embedded below.

So far it's still being rumored for a November release date, but we shall soon see.

My little toe is bigger then that.

And its still the crap with glasses. How can Sony even think about releasing this stupid crap when there is something like a 3DS.

Sony should put their effort in online security, instead of the 3d crap.

Do you even know what you are talking about? The 3ds is not the same as a 3d tv, they are still working on big screen tv's to work with 3d without glasses, but the technologie is not ready yet. The little screen of the 3ds is not the same as a big screen tv.

The 3ds is crap. You have to be at 1 position to actually use the 3d. And why would you think that they didn't put effort into online security. They're a big company.

If you have a little toe bigger than 24 inches, I seriously suggest you see a doctor. Pronto.

Wait a second! Am I reading this right? This is TV without a transmiter? We cannot use this to watch normal TV programing? Who would buy a screen only for their gaming needs? Come on Sony! This is retarded! As a Sony fanboy who intended to buy this "TV" on day one I am shocked. :o

You need to read more carefully, it says that, "... it has a transmitter, so it's not a television." Before that it also says, "you can definitely connect it not only to your PS3, but also to your cable box, or even your PC if you would want."

Well, the article is probably incorrect/incomplete, the display probably doesn't have a "receiver"... (The transmitter is presumably for the 3D glasses, can't think of any other use for a transmitter on a TV, unless one wants to be extremely technical and call the LCD display an "active matrix visual spectrum transmitter" for the receivers that are your eyes...) But, unless you don't have either a cable box/DVR and/or don't plan on attaching an antenna for OTA broadcasts, why pay extra for the receiver that won't be used. Anything that it has HDMI inputs, any device you have that outputs HDMI can be connected. DVD players, game consoles, cable boxes, DVRs, media streaming devices, computers with HDMI outputs, etc... I found specs for it on LazyTechGuys (google search) that claims to have a composite video input. SD devices (last gen game consoles, VCRs, older DVD players, etc) should also work.

Erg... wish there was an edit button... Should read:
"It has 2 HDMI inputs so any device you have that outputs HDMI can be connected."

I wonder how long until the 2-player mode starts showing up in Bravia firmware updates...

24" is WAY to small to even be considered for purchase. Many of the games out there have text so tiny that even with a 1080 display, you wont possibly be able to read it, even if you are sitting on top of the screen. Honestly, I haven't even considered gaming on a screen smaller than 40" in years.

What size monitor are you using right now on your computer? Can you read the text on it?
