“There be no friendly dragons” - Bethesda warns Skyrim players |

If you were hoping to find some dragons in Skyrim and then jump on their backs and go riding all over the great land in Elder Scrolls, then you were greatly mistaken as Bethesda's Peter Hines said in an interview with GameSpot that Skyrim's dragons have more on their mind than being everyone's favourite dragon.
“This is not How To Train Your Dragon”, he said “this is how to kill a whole bunch of very mean things that have come to kill and hurt people...might there be exceptions and nuances to that, Hines adds, “Possibly, I wouldn't want to say anything beyond that. But this is not a game where, like 'no, dragons are our friends and we just have to get along!”, I love how straight forward he is on the matter, as if he even has a vendetta against the mythical creatures.
Hines also discussed Skyrim's radiant story system which adds random enounters to the world and described the scenario where the player is attacked and killed by bandits on the way to a dungeon. The next time the player walked the road, there might be bandits, but instead a wizard or hunter, hoping to ruin your day. This would help create a unique story for each player. Hines explains it more as a “subtle” and something that he doesn't want players to “notice when you're experiencing something that's got Radiant Story,"
Similar to Left 4 Dead and Minecraft, Hines hopes to create a player driven narrative..."but when you're around the watercooler the next day and everybody's talking about what they did, even if you did the same quest you'll be like 'hey wait a minute, I went to a different dungeon, which one did you go to? Mine had waterfalls.'" But then how do we know if something is planned/scripted or when it's radiant story?
I'm becoming more and more excited about Skyrim as the weeks are leading up to the release, which is exactly what Bethesda wants. They are hoping for a big release and wondering if their work and not just their hype pays off.
