Speed dating service offered by GAME. |

As the logo claims, Play Em, Then Trade Em.
This is the new slogan of an initiative from the GAME Group Australia (owned by GAME Group UK).
Profit reports that were recently released to the UK Market from GAME show that their profits are well below expectations.
CEO of GAME, Ian Shepherd believes this is because the Video Game sales business remains a very challenging market, but that performance as a whole is "below their expectations".
GAME expects to see revenues drop by at least 7 percent year-over-year in the next financial year.
So what better way to revive the company then to start a speed dating service?!?!

I would speculate that one of the reasons that GAME is noticing a drastic drop in their turnover of Video Games, Consoles and Accessories is because of the gradual change in distribution models.
No longer are we as gamers content with constant trips to a GAME store to view the latest offerings, why would we, when it is available via the PSN or Xbox Live services the day of release (and sometimes sooner if you preorder)
Could Game Speed dating actually work though? Perhaps.
Gamers long ago shed the 'nerd image' in favour of a more casual image that included guys and girls, moms and dads.
So why not hook up with someone who is already on the level with your gaming addiction at an event that is designed specifically for gamers to meet?
If you don't like someone whom you are paired with, is it ok to just load up Single Player Arcade mode till she leaves?

I wonder if they'll use the same slogan for their dating service.
