Sony UK boss Ray Maguire resigns |

After 17 years in service, Sony Computer Entertainment's UK managing director Ray Maguire has decided to step down.
Maguire has been with Sony’s PlayStation division in Europe right from the start, serving as a Director of Sales for Sony Electronic Publishing Limited in 1993 after a succesful career in Sega UK, then moved on to handle the marketing and operations divisions at Sony Computer Entertainment after just one year in service. He then served as a key part for the launched of the PlayStation brand in the UK before taking over as the firms UK managing director.
"Having been here right from the start and after a lot of soul searching, I feel that now is the right time for me to move on," said Maguire. "I am confident that I can leave the business in the hands of the brilliant teams here in the U.K. and across Europe that I've had the honor of working with. I've made so many great friends during my time here and although the thought of leaving was quite tough, it is essential for me to continue to grow."
Sony Europe president Andrew House added, "In a career at SCE spanning over 17 years, Ray has helped establish PlayStation as a household name and a major entertainment brand. Ray is consumer focused and over the years has built and maintained a reputation as one of the industry's most respected senior figures. We wish him luck in his future endeavors."
Sony has yet to name a replacement for Maguire absence.
