Details Emerge on Final Fantasy X HD

Fans have been on a rampage trying to get Square Enix to remake Final Fantasy VII, but the company doesn’t seem to care. Instead, it has elected to bring the PlayStation 2’s Final Fantasy X to modern consoles, with an HD version due sometime this year. Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, details were scarce at the time of the project’s announcement.

New info has emerged that helps clarify what exactly Final Fantasy X HD is all about. And if you’re hoping for a complete, next-gen remake, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. Shinji Hashimoto, producer for Square Enix, has confirmed that the upcoming re-release is a re-mastering of the original a la ICO or Metal Gear Solid HD.

So it looks like the Final Fantasy X you remember will be present in full in this upcoming release, with a few minor upgrades to make it worth plopping down your cash. Not the best news in the world, but not terrible either.

Is it worth buying the same games over and over again for minor graphical upgrades?

iam so glad they don't remaking it. I hate those new kombat system since FF XII. FF X was the last real Square RPG for me. I mean did they forgot why FF I - FF X was legendary? THE TURN-BASED-COMBATS!! Tactical fights and to being honest i liked the time i spent on leveling up before going on the next chapter. Square-Enix, please develop a RPG with next-gen grafix and oldschool combats...

Ugh, I seriously thought this was latest news but it's the same thing that was told a few weeks ago. Honestly, I've been getting my news updates from G4's Feed and Qj seriously has been down the drain for me as of late. Really dissapointed. =/

Was kinda looking forward to an upgraded FFX, but at the same time I'm happy Square didn't go through the trouble of remaking it. They have too much on their plate with FFXIII-2 just launched, FFXIII-3 coming out, Verses XIII still to come, Dream Drop Distance, KHIII eventually, not to mention their new western style titles like the rebooted Tomb Raider prequel. If they were going to do a remake I still rather them do FFVII, it needs the better graphics and some translation fix ups.

they are not going to make a FFXIII-3 because they are done with the FFXIII story line

Played both God of War Collections, Sly Collection, and about to start the ICO/SoC Collection. I have loved everyone thus far. I think Sony is making mad cash from these remasters. Microsoft has since followed suit with Halo Anniversary Edition. Who doesn't want their favourite games in HD?

if they are going to remake any final fantasy's its going to be FF6 because FF7 was so depressing and FF6 had a better story line

First, I like that FFVII was depressing. I wish I could finish it! But I'm no longer 12 and school/work/girlfriend dominate everything else. I miss the summers where I was too young to do anything but plop on the couch and play games all day for hours on end.

Secondly, I doubt they could remake FFVII properly. It would probably take millions upon millions of dollars, even if they already have everything needed, and would it turn a profit? Yes .. Is the profit margin worth it? Probably not. Sad times.
