FCE Ultra GX v3.3.4 - Gamecube - Wii U
There's no denying that the NES gave us some of the very greatest video games of all time. After all, without the first Nintendo, we may have never seen franchises like Super Mario Bros., or Zelda. It is this kind of fondness that leads many gamers to still enjoy some of these very first entries into the world of modern gaming through the use of many different hardware emulators that work to allow you to play any game for the older system without having to deal with the hassle of loading cartridges. Not to mention getting a hold of ROMs is pretty darn easy (although legal obligations prevent me from telling you exactly how to do it.)

One of the most popular NES emulators for both the Wii and the Gamecube is FCE Ultra GX by the developer known as Titanic. Through many revisions, it has the ability to utilize all major Wii and Gamecube controllers from the Wiimote to the WaveBird. There is also support for all major ROM and compression types as well so you should have no problem getting you game loaded. Want to play a classic game of Duck Hunt? It's no problem because you've got full Zapper support which makes pretty amazing use of Nintendo's motion controls. This build specifically only makes updates to the main core of the emulator, but it should offer some performance enhancements and fixes for compatibility issues. The download link above is for the Wii, but if you're looking for a Gamecube version, you can download it here.
Speaking of Nintendo, we close out this week's recap with a way to get your Mario racing fix right on PSP!
