Quite a few genres have suffered from the advent of modern gaming, but there are few that have seen their demise more than the side-scrolling beat-em-up franchise. In the days of the NES and SNES, games like Ninja Turtles and Final Fight were among the most popular on the console. However, as we have migrated over into the 3D world, this type of experience just didn't fit with the way the industry was headed. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to go without. Thanks to an update to the popular PS3 homebrew experience known as Paintown, you'll be able to relive those days of yesteryear.

When you arrive in Paintown, one of the first things that you'll probably know and love are the game's mechanics. Fitting right at home with some of the previously mentioned titles, you'll be mashing your way through hordes of foes in the single player or multiplayer variety. However, that is really just the tip of the iceberg, because where this game really shines is through its unique character roster. Because this is an independent title, you're going to get a ton of matchups that you simply aren't going to see anywhere else. Want to pair Chun Li with your favorite Ninja Turtle? Consider it done in Paintown!
With that in mind, we personally think its great that lunnuxx has decided to add one more fighter to the list in this particular version. As of now, you will also be able to play as Ragna Bloodedge from blazblue as well. Obviously, since this is the first time that he is making an appearance, you can expect the move list to be just a little bit rough, but the developer insists the new addition is more than playable in the present circumstances. Finally, it was also suggested that this same game may eventually be making its way onto the Xbox 360 in the near future, so you may want to start getting your friends with other consoles into the crazy side-scroller known as Paintown!
