If you're one of the more advanced PS3 users of the QJ community, you may want to listen up to this little story. Thanks to the development team responsible for creating the Showtime Media Player for Sony's console, now gamers with development consoles will be able to take advantage of all the media goodness that this application has to offer without converting their systems back to the retail unit configuration. After all why part with all those nifty development tools when you don't have to?

It's true that working within the development (or DEX) framework in the PS3 scene can be a sometimes frustrating process. After all, these consoles run on an entirely different firmware with an architecture that differs from what you would find in the stores. Because of this, a lot of great homebrew apps are simply left in the dust because it's too time consuming to code for both. Fear not media fans! The Showtime team hears your pleas loud and clear, and as such this current build should now work perfectly fine on your tricked out console.
For those of you that have been out of the loop, Showtime is a popular HTPC application that allows you to have a much greater depth of media options to consume on your PS3. For one, there is a pretty impressive degree of Spotify integration, so you can groove to all of your favorite tunes through your TV's speaker system. Additionally there are also some live TV streaming choices as well. Because this is a newly created DEX version, the developer contends that it is four revisions behind the current CEX builds, but that does not mean its not functional. Just boot the program once to configure its settings, and on the second boot all of the aforementioned features should be working just fine. Happy streaming developers!
