PS3 Hack enables Remote Play for All Games on Vita |
Listed in: Hacks and Exploits Tags: alice madness, arkham asylum, battlefield 3, firmware 3.55, homer49, Remote Play, Sony, vita
The below video confirms it for PS Vita as we see a YouTuber run Arkham Asylum on his fandangled PS Vita.
The last thing we heard from Playstation about their Remote Play feature is that developers would implement it with their own games as they pleased. It seems that anyone who wants to play it now can easily run custom firmware (in this case 3.55 or 3.41) and register the VITA as a mobile phone and you can instantly stream your game to your phone. Other videos on Homer49's site includes Red Dead Redemption, Alice Madness, Battlefield 3 and a few others including streaming movies straight to his Vita.
While a bit laggy, the custom does it's job and who knows you could never have to pause a game properly forever. You could go to the bathroom, hang out in another room or even play it outside. Even though the Vita has less buttons than your average PS3 controller, the feature of the firmware lets you map portions of your touchscreen to specific buttons and shows how someone's own ingenuity and creativity was able to get a feature that Sony didn't dare give free reign to it's users. Why I'm not 100% sure, but I'm glad this firmware exists.

I wonder how much data is actually sent between the ps3 and vita, assuming that 3G is able to handle it so actually getting the 3G would be worthwhile when data plans become cheaper.

It works without hacks, it just has to be an older firmware.

And the article clearly states that the hack lags on some games. Hinting towards the fact that the PS3 cannot handle this feature for all games or software it runs.
