Japanese PS3 Games Getting English Hacks

Remember Fatal Frame 4? No? I do, I played it and enjoyed it, and I wouldn't have gotten very far without the homebrew patch that was essentially an entire translation for the game.

Well the guys behind that are now working on the same sort of deal for TalesOf Vesperia, a 2009 PS3 game that wasn't one of the ones lucky enough to get over here in the West. Just like the Fatal Frame 4 patch, it will only work with a homebrew enabled console, as that's how the patch is loaded. That said, the guys are going to release a text version of the game's massive translated script so all of you will be able to enjoy it.

The only problem is that I can't see a translated text file being too useful, unless you had a very faithful friend sitting next to you as you played, reading out everything that's happening in English.

The patch has an expected release date of 'sometime this year'. Nice.

What games would you guys love to see translated?

To bad it's not easier to replace the audio resources.

Audio files are very easy to replace, apparently you've never heard of an UNDUB.

It requires reverse-engineering as well as there already being BOTH versions.

Also, I said easIER, smartass. It's a down right PITA on the PS3 but I never said it was hard.

I'm still waiting on the Tales of Hearts and Ace Attorney Investigations 2 translation patches.

As for games I want to see translated that aren't being worked on I'd say Tales of Xillia if it never comes West.

Is it possible to rip the dub from the 360 version and just slap it on? or am I asking for too much here.

The X360 version and the PS3 version are quite different.
The PS3 version has a new playable character, new scenarios, and about twice as much audio recorded dialogue as the X360 game.

As for "The only problem is that I can't see a translated text file being too useful, unless you had a very faithful friend sitting next to you as you played, reading out everything that's happening in English."

It's a shame that some people are not used to reading subtexts. Even more so that they can't even understand how it would be useful. Many games have optional audio language, and I've been playing them just fine.
