Factory 3.56 PS3s Can Now Flash to E3 |

Quite a few of my readers have been commenting on the fact that they wish they could be a part of the PS3 hacking scene but happen to be stuck on some high version of official firmware. Sure waiting for a software based solution is obviously the most consumer friendly option, but its definitely not the only way. Thanks to a new patch by Varicela and Luckyma, consoles with factory OFW 3.6 or below can flash their system directly to E3 4.30 CFW.

For those of you who are unaware what I am talking about, firmware flashing is an alternate and much more surefire way to get your PS3 onto 3.55 and up to the latest version of custom firmware. However unlike all of those easy software hacks that are for the most part controlled by the developers themselves, this process requires that you purchase what is called a hardware flasher, and open up your precious console in order to get the job done. Obviously anything like this carries its share of risk, but that's not to say it doesn't have its own reward.
If you happen to have a PS3 that came with factory 3.56 firmware or below, through this simple patch and the right flasher you can head straight to custom firmware without having to downgrade your system first. Now let it be known that I when I say factory I mean that your console originally came with 3.56 or below when you purchased it. In theory that means you can be on 4.31 OFW right now, but as long as you have purchased it with 3.56 or below this will still work. Currently this only works on NOR models, but will hopefully be ported to NAND soon. For any more info you can check out the source link!
