Grand Theft Auto V.  Ahhhh yes, the name alone gets me excited, but will this blockbuster hit shelves by March 2013?  One analyst fears that it might not.

When screens and a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V made their way onto the internet, fans of the series tried not to wet themselves.  After all, the GTA games of the past were fun as hell, whether you loved doing the missions or simply enjoyed running around acting like an a-hole.  Unfortunately, Rockstar Games hasn’t put out an official release date as of yet, but many projected that it would at least be available by March of next year.

According to Colin Sebastian, an industry analyst with Robert W. Baird, GTA V may not make the March 2013 window for these reasons:

• no true updates on an official release date
• a lack of sufficient time for Rockstar to prepare for GTA V’s launch, since most company’s prefer 4 to 6 months to do so
• Rockstar typically favors game quality over release deadlines, so they may hold out longer than expected

It would suck if we had to wait longer for GTA V, but Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two said that GTA V’s progress is coming along nicely.
