US and Japan-only PSOne Classics being prepped for EU PS Store release |

Here's some good news for European gamers who never got a chance to play some PSOne Classics that were only released in Japan and North America. The EU PlayStation Store will soon be home to some of them.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's Ross McGrath says that while a list of titles isnt available at the moment, "there are a few that are already in process and you will start to see them publishing in the future." Among the many publishers SCEE plans to invite is Square Enix, McGrath revealed.
Under this initiative, publishers who hold publishing rights to games released only in Japan and North America will be able to apply and have them released on the EU PlayStation Store provided the games are rated by Europe's various ratings bodies. All titles will be published "as is" in terms of language and game content and will require a 60 Hz capable display so you can play them properly. If you plan to play them on PSP then you're good to go.
If a PAL version of a game doesn't pass SCEE's quality control, Sony can instead choose to release the NTSC version if it's already available on the US or Japanese PlayStation Stores. At least that way Sony can be sure that the game is relatively bug-free. A US version of a game still needs to be reprocessed before it can be released, however, and it has to be legally cleared for distribution in SCEE territories.
What about the reverse, though? Will we also see PAL-only games being released as 60 Hz NTSC games on the US PlayStation Store? McGrath says it's not a priority at the moment, but if the demand is there Sony may consider doing that in the future.

Even so, I have already worked my way through most of the classics that I cared about with my fiancee on emulators instead.
