Tetsuya Nomura gives out Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3D updates |

Since Square Enix is still keeping Final Fantasy Versus XIII off the gaming expo circuit, the main source of updates we have for the game has been director Tetsuya Nomura. The game was absent from this year's Tokyo Game Show but Nomura did give Japanese gaming website Famitsu a small update on how the game's coming along.
One of the things previously revealed about the game was the return of a traversable world map. Nomura reportedly did a walkthrough of Versus XIII's entire world map as well as the game's dungeons and side quests. Apparently, he was impressed with how "expansive" the game's world is.
The director also clarified some issues about Versus XIII's engine. It's not running on Square Enix's next-gen Luminous engine, but it does use that engine's lightning tech in conjunction with a game-specific engine optimized for action.
Nomura also talked about another of his projects, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. The Nintendo 3DS title is now 60 to 70 percent complete and on track for a Spring 2012 launch in Japan.
Speaking of Dream Drop Distance, if you saw the game's TGS 2011 trailer then you may have noticed that The World Ends With You's main character, Neku, is in it. Nomura hinted in the same Famitsu issue that Square Enix is working on something related to the 2007 Nintendo DS title. Although Nomura didn't use the word "sequel", he has said before that he would like to work on a follow-up to the action role playing game.
I'm quite excited about Final Fantasy Versus XIII but I really do hope that with the full force of the dev team now bearing down on it Square Enix starts showing off some gameplay footage before the year ends. As for The World Ends With You, it's probably not going to be a sequel. With Square Enix's record recently I wouldn't be suprised if it turns out to be a remake.

And why there is no KH 3. Instead we got all these damn offshoots on handhelds.

Nomura's already stated before that KH3's not starting until VS XIII is finished, indirectly related to the slowness
So spinoffs would exist regardless
