Telltale games caught out telling of a few tales in their online reviews |

Over at Metacritic, two developers who did not choose to identify themselves as such have been caught out giving some overly positive reviews of the new Jurassic Park game they developed.
In what is probably a more common practice than the video games industry would like to admit too, the developers were glowing in their review of the new Jurassic Park game title.
One review commented that there was "much to love about the game" including "top notch writing" and the fact that the "deaths in the game are amazing".
The other review said that "Jurassic Park is a lovingly crafted game which follows its own story line".
Obviously, working on a game for a number of years you are likely to become very attached to it thanks to the amount of time and effort you have put in, but biased reviews are probably always going to raise the Internet sleuths to call.
What sparked the investigations, apart from the largely biased comments, were the total 10/10 reviews that the users gave the game.
Confirmation came from Telltale games that at least two of the reviews were written by their employees, one who worked on the game interface and the other on the cinematic.
According to a Telltale games statement they do not "muzzle" any of their employees from talking about their titles in public, but are now "communicating internally that anyone who posts on an industry forum must publicly acknowledge they are a Telltale employee".
The game is now receiving multiple 0 – 3/10 reviews from Metacritic users as a bit of a backlash to the way that the developers went about all of this.
According to the Federal Trade commission laws in the United States (available here) it is against the rules to review your own product without disclosing you are a maker of the product.
