Team Ninja sheds more light on Ninja Gaiden 3 multiplayer |

Ryu Hayabusa won't be alone in Ninja Gaiden 3. For Team Ninja's latest take on the franchise, it's putting in a multiplayer mode that will let players eaither team up with or fight against other ninjas. Speaking to SPOnG, localization project manager Peter Garza shared some additional details on what the game's multiplayer component entails.
"We really wanted to focus the single-player mode on swordplay, and the brutality that encompasses," he said said. "Online, however, we have a different idea. It's more like the world of ninjas, and for that you'll be able to make your own ninja and compete with other people from around the world."
Players will start out as rookie ninjas. By levelling up, they will unlock new skills and items. On the competitive side of things, there will be team-based battles as well as the usual multiplayer deathmatch mode. Players will also be able to go through the single-player campaign with either a friend or a computer-controlled character.
Garza describes Ninja Gaiden 3's multiplayer mode as "a world of ninjas", but the team has emphasized that that doesn't equate to a world of Ryu Hayabusa clones. Players will get a number of customization options to personalize their characters. "There are about 2,000 kanji characters that you can wear on your back, for example," he said. Then again, having everybody look the same won't make much of a difference if you're playing a mode where the only objective is to kill everone else.
