Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is real

Get ready for a three-way battle between the U.S. Special Ops, zombies and other bio-organic weapons, and Umbrella Corp.'s own squad of highly trained security officers. Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is the real deal.

The game, which is indeed being developed with help from SOCOM: Confrontation developer Slant Six, will put players in the shoes of an Umbrella Security Services soldier. Their job will be to clean up all evidence of the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City and eliminate any survivors.

The U.S. government has gotten wind of the outbreak, though, so players will also have to contend with U.S. Special Ops teams as well as the various monstrosities wandering around Racccoon City. Expect the return of original Resident Evil enemies, iconic landmarks such as the Raccoon City Police Department and familiar characters, including rookie cop Leon Kennedy. Yeah, you have to kill him too.

Players can either go at it solo or team up with up to three other players. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will also come with a number of competitive online multiplayer modes. The game is currently being prepped for a winter release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
